New Returns Dashboard
To change the Return frequency or Return type:
The taxpayer can file returns either monthly or quarterly basis in the New Return regime. The frequency of filing returns may be changed by the taxpayer from monthly to quarterly or vice versa, by exercising this option.
If the return frequency is selected as quarterly, then the taxpayer can change the return type as either Quarterly (Normal), Sahaj or Sugam, based on the types of their transactions. Taxpayer whose aggregate turnover was more than Rs. 5 crores, in the preceding financial year, has to file Monthly (Normal) return.
Note: In the example shown here, the current return frequency of the user is Monthly, which is changed to Quarterly. In subsequent example, the return type is changed from Sahaj to Quarterly Normal.

A. Change the return frequency from Monthly to Quarterly
1. Login to the GST Portal. Navigate to Services > Returns > Manage Return Profile (Trial) on the dashboard.

2. Select the Financial Year. Then, click the CHANGE RETURN FREQUENCY button to change the return frequency.

Note:
- Notice that the current Selected Return Frequency is Monthly and we are changing it to Quarterly (Normal).
- In case, the return frequency is monthly then there is no need to select the return type and the CHANGE RETURN TYPE button will be shown disabled by default.
3. A questionnaire is displayed. Select the relevant options to change the return frequency and click SUBMIT.

Note: Click the icon with the return type to view details about SAHAJ, SUGAM and Quarterly (Normal) returns before making a choice.
4. Alternatively, if you need help to select your return frequency, use the Click Here link.

4a. Select the appropriate options for the questions displayed in the screen and click Next.

4b. Select the relevant responses and click SUBMIT.

4c. Read the warning message and Click YES to continue.

5. You will land at New Return (Trial) page. The return type is changed from Monthly to Quarterly (Normal).

B. Change the return type from Sahaj to Quarterly Normal
6. To change the return type from Sahaj to Quarterly (Normal), select the Financial Year and click the CHANGE RETURN TYPE button.

7. For the selected Financial Year, select the Quarter from the drop-down list. Then, select the suitable return type check box. Click SUBMIT.

8. The return type gets changed. You can go BACK and view the changes on the Manage Return Profile (Trial) page.
Notice that the return type is changed from Sahaj to Quarterly (Normal).
